Shrentsurance

Our Owner’s Assurance Policy

Our Shrentsurance is in place to give Shrent item owners peace of mind against theft or damage. Shrentsurance covers U.S. owners against damages up to the actual cash value determination. We believe the first recourse should be to amicably resolve issues between the parties. However, if that is not possible, we’ve got you covered.

Please note that if you have your own commercial insurance, you will need to file the claim with that policy prior to filing a claim with Shrentsurance.

What criteria is needed to file a claim?

All claims via Shrentsurance require proper documentation which includes the following:

  •  Photos with timestamp and location details, connecting back to accurate check-in/return dates.

  • An invoice with the price of the equipment, year, make, and VIN.  If you do not have an invoice, you can provide Shrent with a brochure containing the cost of the item.

  • The complete contract/transaction history

  • Date of loss and where it occurred

  • Explanation of what happened

  • If the person renting the equipment injured someone or caused damage to someone else's property, we will need the complete contract, date of loss, and where the incident occurred.

  • If the police were notified, we will need a copy of the police report.

You can read our full Terms of Service here. If you have all the required documentation and would like to file a claim, please submit one by reaching out to support@shrent.com.

Does the owner need to provide the original purchase receipt?

No, the original purchase receipt is not necessary.  Many people do not keep the purchase receipt.  An official brochure of the damaged property along with a price will suffice.

How does the actual cash value determination play out, and does it cover repair or a full replacement?

Actual cash value (ACV) is calculated by taking what it would cost to buy the equipment new today and subtracting depreciation for factors such as age, condition, and obsolescence.

What if a renter decides not to return an item?

As per our Terms of Service, renters who fail to return an item are liable to pay the full replacement cost of the item, regardless of the circumstances of the non-return. In the event the renter is not cooperating, and the payment is delayed, please contact local authorities. If the Shrent-item has not been returned per rental agreement, it will be considered stolen.  Therefore, please report to local law enforcement, and submit a claim against your homeowners’ insurance and our Shrentsurance policy.
